Only Men Aloud’s Decade Gala Celebration Concert – a celebration of the last ten years at the Wales Millennium Centre, Cardiff on Sunday the 21st of October has gotten bigger with the addition of Only Boys Aloud. Tickets are on sale right now and details on how to book for this event are here -  www.onlymenaloud.com

Since their formation in 2010 by Tim Rhys-Evans – the inspirational music director behind renowned male choir Only Men Aloud – Only Boys Aloud has offered once-in-a-lifetime opportunities to hundreds of boys across Wales to perform on platforms large and small across the UK, as well as numerous TV appearances and recordings.

With 14 choirs working in some of the most deprived areas in Wales, word of this phenomenon has spread throughout the globe. The boys’ Britain’s Got Talent audition clip has had well over 24 million views on YouTube and we have messages posted almost daily on our website from around the world.

Created for a one-off concert in 2010, OBA has gone from strength to strength, gaining a momentous 3rd place in Britain’s Got Talent in 2012, performing at Buckingham Palace in 2013 to celebrate the anniversary of the coronation, launching a brand-new Royal Caribbean Cruise Liner and much, much more. Inclusivity is central to the scheme.

Ten years ago this coming summer, Only Men Aloud became the Last Choir Standing, winning the BBC1 primetime show and becoming Britain’s favourite choir.  They will be performing many of their hits from the last decade and delighting audiences with their unique sound, style and perfect harmonies.  The vocal group have asked their very loyal fan group what their favourite songs have been from over the past ten years, and many of these will feature in the Decade Concert.

Since winning Last Choir Standing, Only Men Aloud have gone on to achieve great success. In 2009, their album Band of Brothers won a Classical Brit Award for Best Album of the Year. They have toured every year since winning the show, all around the world and have worldwide record sales of over 300,000.

Over the years, the hugely popular group have built up a strong fan base across the world and were honoured to be asked to sing at the London 2012 Olympic Games Opening Ceremony, at the very moment the Olympic Flame was lit to an estimated global TV audience of 900 million people.

OMA have given many memorable performances, with numerous appearances at outdoor festivals and proms. They have performed twice at The Royal Variety Performance, been seen on numerous television programmes and are familiar faces at sporting events; they sang at the opening ceremony of the Ryder Cup in 2010 and the Ashes in 2015. The group have undertaken many successful tours of the USA including performances at the famous Ravinia Festival in Chicago, the Smithsonian Festival in Washington DC and the North American Festival of Wales in Minneapolis.

OMA have now recorded five studio albums and plans are taking place for a sixth. Recent notable engagements have included performing at The UEFA Champions League Final Celebrations in Cardiff, and a trip to Mumbai in India for the group’s very first appearance in Asia.

For anyone interested in joining Only Boys Aloud - there are no fees to take part and no auditions. Any boy aged 11-19 who commits to attending regularly at their local rehearsal is welcomed whatever their background or ability. At its heart, the scheme aims to make a difference to the young men of Wales and help raise aspiration levels, self-esteem and confidence. Only Boys Aloud is one of the main activities managed by The ALOUD Charity, formed in 2012 to secure the future of this extraordinary, life-changing project. Who are Only Men Aloud?

Only Men Aloud were formed in 2000. The group's aim was to inject some new blood into the Welsh male choir tradition. The group's repertoire is varied and eclectic, from Welsh folksongs and hymns to musicals and opera, from barbershop and swing to pop.

The choir won The BBC's Last Choir Standing in the summer of 2008, and released their debut album shortly afterwards, which went gold in the UK.
