01 Aug 2018

Ten years ago Only Men Aloud became the Last Choir Standing, winning the BBC1 primetime show and become Britain’s favourite choir. To celebrate this anniversary, Only Men Aloud are heading back out on tour across the UK including 4 dates in Wales to celebrate the last ten years. These 4 shows are in addition to the Decade Gala Celebration Concert announced at the Wales Millennium Centre, Cardiff.

The tour will stop off at Venue Cymru, Llandudno (Fri 23rd Nov), Y Ffwrnes, Llanelli (Mon 26th Nov), The Hafren, Newtown (Sat 15th Dec) and Theatr Brycheiniog, Brecon (Fri 21st Dec).  They will be performing many of their hits from the last decade and will be delighting audiences with their unique sound, style and perfect harmonies.

Only Men Aloud have asked their very loyal fan group what their favourite songs have been from over the past ten years, and many of these will feature in the Decade Tour.

Since winning Last Choir Standing, Only Men Aloud have gone on to achieve great success. In 2009, their album Band of Brothers won a Classical Brit Award for Best Album of the Year. They have toured every year since winning the show, all around the world and have worldwide record sales of over 300,000.

Over the years, the hugely popular group have built up a strong fan base across the world and were honoured to be asked to sing at the London 2012 Olympic Games Opening Ceremony, at the very moment the Olympic Flame was lit to an estimated global TV audience of 900 million people.

OMA has given many memorable performances, with numerous appearances at outdoor festivals and proms. They have performed twice at The Royal Variety Performance, been seen on numerous television programmes and are familiar faces at sporting events; they sang at the opening ceremony of the Ryder Cup in 2010 and the Ashes in 2015. The group have undertaken many successful tours of the USA including performances at the famous Ravinia Festival in Chicago, the Smithsonian Festival in Washington DC and the North American Festival of Wales in Minneapolis.

OMA have now recorded five studio albums and plans are taking place for a sixth. Recent notable engagements have included performing at The UEFA Champions League Final Celebrations in Cardiff, and a trip to Mumbai in India for the group’s very first appearance in Asia.

Who are Only Men Aloud?

Only Men Aloud were formed in 2000. The group's aim was to inject some new blood into the Welsh male choir tradition. The group's repertoire is varied and eclectic, from Welsh folksongs and hymns to musicals and opera, from barbershop and swing to pop.

The choir won The BBC's Last Choir Standing in the summer of 2008, and released their debut album shortly afterwards, which went gold in the UK.
