Only Men Aloud's search for new singers!

Only Men Aloud is looking for new talented tenors and basses to join this successful male vocal ensemble.
Potential candidates should be able to sing to a professional standard in a wide range of styles as the group’s repertoire ranges from classical to modern music. Taking in opera, pop and musical theatre as well as traditional Welsh choral music, an adaptability of vocal use is essential as is a solid vocal technique. Candidates should be able to deliver both a solid, solo vocal performance and be a sensitive and committed member of the ensemble.
A good ear is essential to being part of Only Men Aloud and ability as a proficient music-reader is preferable. A working knowledge of the pronunciation of European languages (including Welsh) is also desirable though proper coaching will always be given with regard to pronunciation of all languages.
Performance flair and skill is key to the candidate’s success at audition. Good stage presence and acting ability is vital, as is good movement skills though formal dance training is not necessary. Image is also very important to OMA, and any applicant should be well groomed and should have an appropriate level of fitness that is in keeping with a modern performance group.
The ability to work as an energetic member of team is fundamental to delivering the ensemble performances we require and a personable nature and good sense of humour is again essential to a satisfactory rehearsal, touring and performance environment.
Please note that the organisation is based and rehearses in Cardiff.
Please also note that currently the group works on a contract-to-contract basis and that there is no full-time salary for the position though appropriate remuneration is given for any work that is undertaken. A touring/performance and recording schedule for 2013 is already in place though, due to the nature of live and TV performances, this is liable to be added to as work comes in.

Based on the information we receive, successful applicants will then be invited to attend auditions to sing for OMA Music Director Tim Rhys-Evans and a panel of industry professionals on either June 11th or 12th 2013 in Cardiff.
