National Children of Wales Awards

21 Jan 2022

National Children of Wales Awards.

The National Children of Wales Awards promises to be an unforgettable and inspirational evening from start to finish in the incredible venue of the Celtic Manor. Some 700 guests will help us celebrate the bravery and incredible stories of young people from across Wales – sharing their stories and achievements.

It will also be a glamorous and star-studded night with a number of high-profile Welsh sports stars attending, and many celebrities and special guests playing important roles during the evening. Showbiz personality Carol Vorderman and rugby star Ian Gough will host the evening – with some extra support from special guests.

Entertainment will be provided by male voice choir Only Men Aloud, the winners of the BBC talent show Last Choir Standing, who now perform to sell-out crowds across the UK.

They will be joined by another well-known and superbly talented Welsh choir, Angelicus Celtis, a choir of schoolgirls from Llanelli, who reached the semi-final of Britain’s Got Talent in 2017.

The choir is part of the world-famous Hywel Girls’ Choir & Hywel Boy Singers who have become an institution in choral singing and picked up multiple accolades to celebrate their success.

This special evening will also feature special performances from Motionhouse, a world-class dance-circus production company that tours to rave reviews globally. Its sell-out productions integrate athletic physicality, powerful narrative and incredible digital imagery combined with emotive sound scores. They promise a very special show on the night.

But the real stars of the evening, of course, will be the young deserving winners of the National Children of Wales Awards. Each family will be treated to VIP treatment from start to finish including a luxurious stay in the Celtic Manor and a special invitation to stay at Bluestone National Park Resort.

The inspirational stories of these individuals will also be told through video in the evening. Expect a tear-jerker – but also to be uplifted on what will be an incredible night of celebration and emotion.

BIOGRAPHY

Only Men Aloud

Who are Only Men Aloud?

Only Men Aloud were formed in 2000. The group's aim was to inject some new blood into the Welsh male choir tradition. The group's repertoire is varied and eclectic, from Welsh folksongs and hymns to musicals and opera, from barbershop and swing to pop.

The choir won The BBC's Last Choir Standing in the summer of 2008, and released their debut album shortly afterwards, which went gold in the UK.
